The Old Monk


After tasting one of our cakes, Namita Aunty ordered us to make a rum cake for her husband’s fortieth birthday. The idea was for the cake to look like an Old Monk rum bottle. The best part about the recipe was that it was completely vegetarian (apart from the gelatin used for the fondant). And of course, we used Old Monk for the rum glaze. When we soaked some glaze onto it, this yummy, delicious fragrance filled the room… it took all our self-control to not eat it ourselves!!!
The carving and painting took quite some time, but after we saw the finished product… we thought it was all worth it in the end, what say??
Sigh! A cake is such short lived artwork!
